Orthodontic Arts New Patient Process

 

 

Starting orthodontic treatment can seem like a daunting task that takes multiple appointments before putting the car in gear. However, the new patient process is really simple at our office! We have a three-step process, which can all be accomplished at the first appointment! In fact, most of our patients are getting started on their smile journey the second time they arrive at our practice.

First, we take a few photos that help us view the inside and outside of your mouth. This is super simple! Next up are scans. New technology with intra-oral scanners eliminates the need to take impressions for diagnostic models and fabrication of appliances, such as Invisalign aligners and retainers. Our highly trained technicians can capture a scan of your teeth within about 5 minutes, avoiding the need for messy impressions! We also take a dental cone beam CT scan that allows us to have a 3D image of your teeth. Our orthodontists can evaluate your teeth, oral and maxillofacial region (mouth, jaw, and neck), and ears, nose, and throat (ENT) with this scan. This information is incredibly important for your treatment plan.

Each patient meets with Dr. Birdwell and/or Dr. Wilson to discuss goals, view the records taken, and construct a plan of action for treatment. We call this the “new patient consultation”. Our treatment coordinator discusses insurance benefits, cost of treatment and payment options. Most of the time we can schedule your appointment to get started on your smile journey. Yup, it’s that easy!
